AS OF 10th SEPTEMBER 2020
THE PETER ASHLEY ACTIVITY CENTRES
Public Statement
Latest Government update from the 9th September
IMPORTANT NOTICE
As the situation in the UK continues to change, and now after yesterday’s announcement (9th September 2020), we once again must review how we deliver our sporting opportunities to the community.
The Charity has been working hard since June in its phased reopening of the centres to the community in a safe and sensible way. We have achieved this by observing, implementing and following recent guidelines published by Sports England, DCSM (Department For Digital, Culture, Media & Sport), The British Activity Providers Association, Learning Outside The Classroom, The Adventure Mark, The British Horse Society, British Cycling, Archery GB, the Association of British Climbing Walls and The National Smallbore Rifle Association.
We have currently been successful in our reopening our centres to the community and have enjoyed a return to some form of activity delivery over the summer, albeit on a largely reduced scale.
We have also been successful in meeting the criteria set out by the government and governing bodies to reopen and have been awarded the “We’re Good To Go” quality badge by Visit England and the “Staying COVID-19 Secure in 2020” accreditation by Evolve & Kaddi.
Under the latest update from the PM social gatherings of more than six people will be banned in England from 14 September 2020. The government have now provided clarity and confirmed that our organised sports and activities that have been through return to play protocols can continue. This is because the sports and activities we offer have stringent plans in place to reduce the risk of Covid-19, and because both Fort Purbrook and Fort Widley are classed as Covid-secure given the measures we have introduced and the accreditation we have received.
Over the next few days, the senior team at the Charity will be reviewing how and if any of our provisions need to be amended to comply with the latest update. If any of these changes affect your booking you will be contacted and offered an alternative option. Please bear with us as we work through this.
We are still open, and we are still welcoming the community to site to take part in the activities. Please do get in touch with the main office if you have any questions or would like to know more about what we can offer during this period.
Thank you to all of our visitors, groups, clubs, staff, and supporters for standing with the charity through this Covid-19 pandemic.
Sincerely
The Peter Ashley Activity Centres Trust
