Mountain Biking at Fort Purbrook. Improve your skill on a bike with a MTB session which we have tailored to match participants age, ability and previous experience. We can offer off-site routes which promote better bike control but will also challenge each person to push themselves to the edge of their comfort zone. Or chose an onsite skills session which focuses on learning and developing the basic bike skills before setting off on to harder terrain. We can also offer bike maintenance and work shop skills sessions.

We currently take participants all over the South Downs, primarily in Queen Elizabeth Country Park. All sessions are led by fully qualified MIAS instructors.

We run special one hour sessions for schools to give young people their first taste of mountain biking. Schools can book on to a series of one hour, fully coached sessions to progress their skills, ending with structured rides. Whether they’ve only recently learnt to ride a bike or want to build confidence – these sessions are a great introduction before going on to develop specific skills for each discipline. These sessions run by our fully qualified coaches will help children master the FUNdamentals of cycling including basic skills such as cornering, braking and bike handling.

Mountain Biking at Fort Purbrook is the perfect activity for parties, school groups, work groups and more. If you are a school looking for a different way of bringing your subject alive, we can tailor the sessions to meet your lesson and curriculum objectives. Our sessions allow for cross curricular opportunities linking with Maths, PE, English, technology and Geography!

Multi stage Skill Session

90 minutes – 1-2-1 Session
Standard £60 (Additional costs apply to extending time and multiple participants at point of booking)
Minimum age 12

This session teaches intermediate mountain biking techniques required for safe, smooth and enjoyable trail riding, including:

  • Stage 1 – Effective cornering on both berms and flat corners
  • Stage 2 – Safely negotiating intermediate down hill sections
  • Stage 3 – Pumping over rollers
  • Stage 4 – Safely negotiating small drop-offs
  • Stage 5 – Utilising front and rear wheel lifts in order to clear obstacles

Each session focuses on a particular area of riding get in touch to discuss more. Own bike is recommended but not necessary.

  • Bike, helmet and glove hire are included

This session explores the basics of mountain biking from the ready position, gearing and braking.
Our fully qualified coaches will have you sitting and standing on your bike correctly in no time before taking you through how to use your gears and brakes around the trails.
