THE PETER ASHLEY ACTIVITY CENTRES
Public Statement
Latest Government update from the 22nd September
A message from our CEO
Considering the recent Covid-19 regulation update, given by the Prime Minister on the 22nd September 2020, we want to reassure you that Fort Purbrook and Fort Widley will remain open for the community at this time. This is an ongoing situation and we will update you if it changes.
It has been amazing to see community members once again be able to engage in our activity provision, connect with us and each other in a socially distanced manner. For some we know this has been a vital and most important development.
The PAAC team have worked hard, building up to and since re-opening the Forts to comply with all regulations ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all who use them. This includes the wearing of PPE where social distancing is not possible; taking of all visitors contact details for the purpose of track and trace and the cleaning of the rooms and all items used after every hiring. In addition to these measures we are also taking the temperatures of all staff members to ensure we protect our community. We also now have specific track and trace QR codes for scanning that will go up in sites in the coming days. As a result, we want to reassure you that our Forts can and do remain open at this time. They are deemed COVID Secure due to the ability to be well ventilated and the processes that are in place when hiring which all those using the facilities must sign up to.
You will see many signs in and around each Fort providing advice on how to ensure levels of cleanliness are maintained and how you can minimise the risk of infection. Hand sanitiser and gel is provided at multiple location within each Fort, which we would ask you to use on arrival, on departure and when required throughout your visit.
The government has now provided clarity and confirmed that our organised sports, events and activities can continue. This is because the sports and activities we offer have stringent plans in place to reduce the risk of Covid-19, provide vital support to the community and each Fort is classed as COVID Secure given the measures we have introduced and the accreditations we have received.
We will continue to review each booking on a case by case basis to ensure it can comply with regulations as they stand. If you are in any doubt it is always best to get in touch and talk it through with us.
You can email us any enquiries to office@peterashleyactivitycentres.co.uk.
COVID-19 Risk Assessments and safety requirements are provided to all those hiring the facility. In addition to this you will be required to produce your own specific COVID-19 Risk Assessment covering the aspects of your hire and planned activity that sit outside of our own risk assessment. Again, please talk to us about these requirements and we can guide you through the process.
We have been overwhelmed by your support during the lockdown and the offers of support keep coming. As a result we will soon be launching a ‘donate now’ option through our website, as your support will help the Charity to recover from the impact of COVID-19 and help us to ensure these amazing heritage sites can remain open to the community for many years to come. Please keep updated via our social media accounts for more information on this opportunity.
As the situation regarding Covid-19 restrictions change and evolve we will work with the authorities to ensure that our activities are compliant and will inform you of any changes. In the meantime, be assured our sites remain open.
The team and I are looking forward to seeing you soon. We are Good To Go!
Keep safe,
Darren Bridgman
Chief Executive
