The Peter Ashley Activity Centres Trust is continuously seeking support for our evolving heritage work, expanding activities, and dynamic learning and outreach programmes.
We would like to invite you to find out more and support our exciting projects at Fort Purbrook and Fort Widley.
The Peter Ashley Activity Centres Trust is acknowledged as one of the south coast’s most unique residential and activity provider. As well as that we are a site of historical importance and we are working hard to preserve and care for our historical site – once described as a “treasure of national importance” by Historic England.
Our fundamental aim is to protect and develop the Forts, ensuring that all areas – from the smallest nail to the largest gun emplacement – are preserved for future generations. Along with developing our activities and outreach work to further engage and help the community.
Want to know more? Drop us a message on our Contact page here or give Fort Purbrook a call on 023 9232 1223.
As a registered charity, we are always on the lookout for volunteers and have some great opportunities for you!
Friends of the Forts
PAACT would like to launch and develop a
Volunteer Friends of the Forts Team, to help manage the upkeep of both Forts. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who would be happy to help with a range of jobs including:
- Assisting our team during the special events held at our sites, such as our annual Fun Day.
- Site maintenance – helping to improve and maintain the quality of facilities on site.
We are also looking to find individuals who are green fingered and have a passion for gardening. We would love to improve the aesthetics of certain areas within the site, which can sometimes be overlooked. We would be looking at creating a Volunteer Gardening Team that could help with a variety of tasks such as:
- Trimming hedges, planting bulbs, seeds and flowers, tending to existing flower beds and pots as well as setting up more around the site.
Not only will you become a valued member of the PAACT team you will be helping in our aim to improve the quality of experience that our participants have when visiting site.
There are no set days that we require the Friends of the Forts Team to work. Therefore, we can offer full flexibility to work around your availability.
Corporate Volunteering
Our
corporate volunteering days provide a fantastic opportunity to get out in our unique environment and to help make our
Forts the best possible venue for the community and the future.
There are always jobs and projects to complete and every single minute that is invested by you and your teams will make a huge difference to the experience that 1000’s of young people have every single year when they visit the site.
Sessions can last either 1/2 or full days and can be matched to your group size and skills within the team.
Jobs might include painting, building fences, cutting back vegetation, gardening, general grounds maintenance, working on our activity or environmental areas, specific projects such as new activities and buildings or maintaining existing facilities by keeping up to date and looking amazing.
By taking part in a corporate volunteering day with us, you’ll enhance your teams working relationships by having fun, motivate your team and increase your social responsibility.
