The Archery GB Instructor Award is the new entry-level training course for people working in leisure, recreational and educational environments. The course is focused on training learners to deliver fun and safe introductory archery sessions.
Peter Ashley Activity Centres will be running an all new 2 ½ day Archery GB Instructors course on the following dates:-
August Course 2017 –
Tuesday 29th August 2017 9am – 5pm
Wednesday 30th August 2017 9am – 5pm
Thursday 31st August 2017 9am – 1pm
Places will be booked on a first come first served basis.
We have enclosed an outline of the course which includes start and finish times for each of the days. Maximum of 12 places per course.
All participants are required to be 17 years of age or older on the first day of the course.
COURSE COSTS
The course cost will be £185 per person.
CANCELLATION
The cancellation policy runs as follows:-
By agreeing to attend the course the following will apply.
If you have to cancel your place within the timescales listed below, course payment will be required:-
- Up to 3 weeks before the start of the course – 100% refunded, – Nothing Payable.
- Up to 1 week before the start of the course – 25% refunded – 75% Payable.
- Less than 1 week before the start of the course – 0% refunded – 100% Payable.
Peter Ashley Activity Centres reserves the right to postpone the course if a minimum number of candidates are not met.

GENERAL INFORMATION
If you have longish hair can you make sure you have something to tie it back with. Also, if you could advise of any injury that you or the attendee’s may be suffering from, this will allow the tutors to take into account to give all applicants the best experience possible.
REFRESHMENTS
(Tea, Coffee and squash) will be provided over the 2 1/2 days; however each of the attendees will need to bring their own lunch.
FAQ’S –
These are some of the questions that we have been asked int he past –
DO WE NEED TO BRING OUR OWN EQUIPMENT ?
No – we supply all of the equipment that is required for the course. Only need to bring yourself.
WHERE WE WILL BE TRAINING ?
The training is carried out indoors. The weather is never our friend in the UK so we will use our indoor facility’s for the training.
CAN WE HAVE THE COURSE WORK BEFORE WE ARRIVE ?
Unfortunately No. The course work will be available ont he first evening/morning of the course. You have to have started the course to receive the course work material.
IS THERE ANY PRE COURSE WORK?
No you do not need to complete any pre course work. No previous archery knowledge is required, though may be an advantage.
Where can we get Lunch ?
There is a popular burger van overlooking Portsmouth just 3 minutes from the centre, or a local parade of shops or bigger superstores all with in 5 minute drive. Please ask at reception for directions.
WHAT IS COVERED ON AN ARCHERY INSTRUCTOR AWARD?
You will be taught how to take a basic have a go/taster archery session. Selecting equipment, Setting up a range, adaptation.
WHAT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE “OLD” LEADERS COURSE AND THE “NEW” INSTRUCTOR AWARD?
The new course is run over 2 1/2 days rather than the previous 4 day course. Also the new course only teaches “point of aim” shooting and does not include “sighted” shooting. There is no maintenance of equipment taught on the Instructor award.
HOW LONG DOES THE INSTRUCTOR AWARD LAST?
The qualification lasts for 3 years. At which point it will need to be renewed.
